Timber Veil: Villa Renovation in Electronic City, Bangalore

Timber Veil is an ongoing 6,000 sq ft villa renovation project in Electronic City, Bangalore, by Shreekant Architecture. Built on a 40 ft x 60 ft plot, the project involves rethinking an existing residence through a combination of architectural intervention and interior design. The renovation is centred on making the home more responsive to the way its occupants use the spaces today.

Rather than approaching the property as a blank canvas, the design process considers its existing structure and identifies where changes can improve the overall experience. The planning looks at room connections, movement, functional zones, storage, and interior requirements to create a better relationship between the different parts of the villa.

For Timber Veil, the architectural strategy focuses on refining the existing spatial arrangement while introducing changes that support a more comfortable daily experience. Areas within the villa are studied in terms of their purpose, access, and relationship with neighbouring spaces. This helps establish clearer transitions between common and private areas while making the larger footprint easier to navigate.

Interior design becomes an extension of this transformation. Furniture, wardrobes, storage, materials, lighting considerations, and finishes are planned in response to the revised spaces rather than added independently.
