The Modern Abode: Warm-Minimalist Villa Architecture in Nagasandra, Bengaluru

The Modern Abode is a 6,000 sq ft villa planned for Ben Residence on a 30 x 60 ft plot in Nagasandra, Bengaluru. With architecture and interior design covered as part of the project scope, the brief was to create a home that felt modern and well-resolved without following a passing trend.

Nagasandra has developed rapidly as Bangalore's northwest corridor has expanded, with a mix of older independent homes and newer contemporary builds. Ben wanted the residence to feel clearly current while remaining comfortable, practical, and relevant for years to come.

The design takes a warm-minimalist approach rather than stark minimalism, combining clean horizontal massing with a restrained material palette. White textured render is paired with horizontal natural stone bands at the plinth and balcony levels, while warm timber cladding adds character to selected areas such as the entry canopy.

With the 30-foot-wide plot and limited side setbacks, bringing natural light into the centre of the 6,000 sq ft villa was a key consideration. A full-height central skylight above the staircase brings daylight into the stair landings and adjoining passages across all four levels.

The ground floor follows an open living, dining, and kitchen layout that connects to a small rear garden. The three upper floors accommodate compact bedroom levels, each with a private balcony. The interior design continues the warm-minimalist language with white oak flooring, handleless matte-finish cabinetry, neutral tones, and restrained brass accents.
