Most interior quotes in Bangalore are hard to compare. One firm prices per square foot, another per room, a third in a single lump sum, and GST is sometimes included and sometimes not.
This guide puts everything on one consistent basis, so you can sense-check any quote you receive. We cover 2BHK and 3BHK costs by tier, what a per sq ft rate really means, a sample quote with GST, and the questions to ask before you sign. All figures are indicative 2026 Bangalore market ranges. They exclude 18% GST, civil work, appliances and loose furniture unless stated. Your actual cost depends on your floor plan, scope and specifications.
Quick answer: interior design cost in Bangalore (2026)
The three tiers differ in materials, how much is custom-built, and how much design input goes into the home.
| Home type | Typical carpet area | Essential | Mid-range | Premium (bespoke) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1BHK | 450-650 sq ft | ₹3-4.5L | ₹4.5-7L | ₹8-12L+ |
| 2BHK | 750-1,000 sq ft | ₹4.5-7L | ₹7.5-12.5L | ₹14-25L+ |
| 3BHK | 1,050-1,450 sq ft | ₹7-11L | ₹11-18L | ₹20-35L+ |
| 4BHK apartment | 1,550-2,100 sq ft | ₹10-15L | ₹15-25L | ₹28-45L+ |
| Villa / independent home | 3,000 sq ft+ built-up | – | from about ₹1,250/sq ft | ₹2,000/sq ft+ |
Indicative, excluding GST, civil work, appliances and loose furniture.
Villas are priced differently because of staircases, double-height spaces and outdoor areas. For a full breakdown, see our villa interior cost guide. Our architect-led interior design services in Bangalore typically work at the premium end of this table.
| Feature | Budget | Premium | Bespoke (architect-led) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Materials | Laminate | Acrylic / PU | Veneer, PU, lacquer, natural stone |
| Furniture | Basic modular | Custom-built | Designed for the space, often one-off pieces |
| Design | Simple | Designer | Architect-led, with detailed drawings and specifications |
| Durability | Medium | High | High, with detailing resolved before execution |
A 2BHK typically costs ₹4.5-7 lakh at the essential level, ₹7.5-12.5 lakh mid-range, and ₹14-25 lakh+ for a premium, bespoke home.
What’s included in an essential 2BHK
Mid-range adds beds with storage, a dresser, foyer and shoe unit, crockery and pooja units, false ceiling in more rooms, and curtains.
Premium adds fully custom joinery, veneer or PU finishes, wall panelling, a layered lighting design, and curated soft furnishings.
Room-wise cost breakdown (2BHK)
| Area | Essential | Mid-range | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| Modular kitchen | ₹1.3-2L | ₹2-3.2L | ₹4-6.5L |
| Master bedroom (wardrobe, bed, side tables, dresser) | ₹1-1.5L | ₹1.5-2.3L | ₹2.8-4.5L |
| Second bedroom | ₹0.8-1.2L | ₹1.1-1.7L | ₹1.8-3L |
| Living room & foyer | ₹0.6-1L | ₹1-1.6L | ₹1.8-3.5L |
| Dining & pooja units | Optional | ₹0.6-1.1L | ₹1-2L |
| False ceiling & lighting | ₹0.5-0.8L | ₹0.7-1.1L | ₹1.2-2.5L |
| Painting (putty, primer, 2 coats) | ₹0.35-0.5L | ₹0.5-0.7L | ₹0.8-1.2L |
| Curtains & soft furnishings | Optional | ₹0.4-0.7L | ₹0.8-2L |
| Approximate total | ₹4.5-7L | ₹7.5-12.5L | ₹14-25L |
The biggest swing factor is scope. Doing only the kitchen and wardrobes keeps you near the bottom of a tier. A full home, with ceilings, panelling and soft furnishings, pushes you to the top.
A 3BHK typically costs ₹7-11 lakh at the essential level, ₹11-18 lakh mid-range, and ₹20–35 lakh+ for a premium, bespoke home.

Bangalore apartments are marketed on super built-up area (SBA), but you furnish the carpet area. Carpet area is typically only about 65–75% of SBA, and loading in Bengaluru projects has risen in recent years. The same project therefore gives a very different “per sq ft” figure depending on which area is used.
| Tier | Per sq ft of carpet area | Per sq ft of super built-up area |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | ₹550-800 | ₹400-550 |
| Mid-range | ₹850-1,350 | ₹600-950 |
| Premium (bespoke) | ₹1,600-2,600+ | ₹1,100-1,800+ |
Whole-home averages, excluding GST.
Why you’ll also see ₹1,200-₹3,500 per sq ft. Wardrobes and some modular units are priced per sq ft of their front (shutter) face, not per sq ft of your floor. A 7 × 7 ft wardrobe has a 49 sq ft face, so ₹1,500 per sq ft means about ₹73,500 for that one wardrobe. Always ask which area a rate applies to before comparing quotes.
This is an illustrative quote for a 3BHK of about 1,620 sq ft super built-up area (about 1,180 sq ft carpet area), finished to a mid-range specification.
| Item | Indicative cost |
|---|---|
| Modular kitchen: L-shape, about 13 running ft, BWP ply carcass, acrylic shutters, quartz top, branded soft-close hardware | ₹3,10,000 |
| Master bedroom: wardrobe with loft, queen bed with hydraulic storage, 2 side tables, dresser | ₹2,20,000 |
| Bedroom 2: wardrobe, bed with storage, side table | ₹1,50,000 |
| Bedroom 3: wardrobe, study unit, single bed | ₹1,45,000 |
| Living & foyer: TV unit with wall panelling, shoe unit with seating | ₹1,40,000 |
| Dining & pooja: crockery unit, pooja unit with backlit jaali | ₹1,05,000 |
| False ceiling (about 520 sq ft gypsum, cove in living & dining) with lighting and electrical points | ₹1,15,000 |
| Painting: full home, premium emulsion, putty, primer, 2 coats | ₹85,000 |
| Curtains, blinds & soft furnishings | ₹65,000 |
| Design, 3D visualisation & project management | Included |
| Subtotal | ₹13,35,000 |
| GST @ 18% | ₹2,40,300 |
| Total payable | ₹15,75,300 |
That subtotal works out to about ₹1,131 per sq ft of carpet area, or about ₹824 per sq ft of super built-up area. It’s the same project, but the two rates differ by roughly 37%.

Most people don’t know this, but pricing models differ.
1. Per Square Foot
2. Percentage of Total Cost
3. Fixed Package Pricing
4. Design-Only Fee
Local carpenters cost less upfront. Design studios cost more but work to drawings, itemised quotes and warranties. Ask for an itemised bill of quantities (BOQ): it’s the easiest quote to compare and the hardest to inflate later.
The rates themselves vary little across Bangalore. What varies is scope.

A well-planned budget can help you:
Whether you go budget or premium, remember:
Good design is not about spending more, it’s about spending smart.
1.What is the interior design cost for a 2BHK in Bangalore in 2026?
Indicatively, ₹4.5–7 lakh for essential interiors, ₹7.5–12.5 lakh for mid-range and ₹14–25 lakh+ for premium bespoke work, excluding 18% GST.
2.What is the interior design cost for a 3BHK in Bangalore?
Indicatively, ₹7–11 lakh (essential), ₹11–18 lakh (mid-range) and ₹20–35 lakh+ (premium), excluding GST.
3.Is the per sq ft rate calculated on carpet area or super built-up area?
It varies by firm, so always ask. On carpet area, whole-home interiors run about ₹550–2,600+ per sq ft depending on tier. The same project looks roughly 30% cheaper per sq ft when calculated on super built-up area.
4.Does the interior quote include GST?
Often it doesn’t. Turnkey interior contracts attract 18% GST, which should appear as a separate line on the quote.
5.How much more does an architect-led interior cost than a modular package?
Usually about 2–3 times more per sq ft. The difference buys custom joinery, premium finishes, a lighting design, and detailed drawings that control quality on site.
6.How long does a full home interior take?
Modular packages usually take 45–60 days after design sign-off. At House of Crea, most apartment projects take about 8 weeks from concept to completion, and villas 12 weeks or more.
7.How are payments usually staged?
Commonly about 10% at booking, 40–50% at design sign-off, 30–40% before installation, and the balance at handover, with GST invoiced at each stage.
8.Do I need to pay my apartment association before interior work starts?
Many Bangalore gated communities collect a refundable interior-work deposit and set working-hour rules. Check with your association before you schedule work.
